Hello Ladies / Gents (Again..)

a few weeks ago i had a problem with the "Good Old" BSOD which was kindly
solved by the help of "cpc2004" (thankyou again) who narrowed it down to
"Faulty RAM"..

So.. of i trundled to the Crucial Website to order some "healthy" RAM
recieved it through the post and placed it into my pc...

Now i have another problem...

i now notice my pc randomly freezing (this can be while i'm doing something but also when i'm not and the pc is idle..)

so if cpc2004 is still around or anyone else that can lend another hand it would
be much appreciated..

minidumps attatched from the last week, i think a couple are from before new RAM
and the rest are from after install of new RAM

This can be due to a number of things.
One: Overheating
Two: Ur Hard Disk probably needs defragmenting
Three: The new RAM is of a different speed or make than the other
Can't think of anything else at the moment.

well i can rule out no 2 and 3 as my HDD is Defragged twice weekly
and the new RAM is deffo the same, identical spec.. )

i'll hang on and see what the dump files turn up if someone wants to take a look
for me.. please..

Is there anyone who can read "MiniDumps" who would like to give me
a hand and explain what the problem is please

as i have (since posting origional post) formatted PC re-installed XP and am running
the bare minimum in software.. but it still happened (4 times in last 2 days)

One of your drivers is the wrong version.

Download latest drivers and install.

Also check the temp / PSU.

Can You Expand on that?? (its a bit of a stab in the dark)

I can not see what you see ... I am the one in the dark. Therefore I start the standard process and maybe it solves your problem.

Are you OC'ing? Is the RAM compatible with your board? Is the timings correct? What was the previous problem? Who says new RAM actually solved it? Is the sticks installed & seated properly? Is your PSU functioning correctly? What is the deviance on the 1.3 & 3.3 lines? What is your NB temp? Is all your fans working? Is the heatsinks seated properly? ... Like I said ... I am the one in the dark - you have the PC in front of you. I can name at least 10 reasons for the PC behaving that way.

When I said "It's a bit of a stab in the dark" i was meaning about your answer..
you said it was a wrong version of a driver..

i was wanting you to narrow it down if it is possible and expand on it,
as i dont know what driver you are reffering to.. sound, display, hardware..?

there are a million drivers to choose from, and i dont know which 1 is the 1 that is the wrong version..

What is your NB temp? = NorthBridge Temp = ?? (Dont Know)

I have looked at your minidumps, and it would seem that you have a hardware problem.

Unfortunately I can`t tell you which hardware it is, as minidumps are not that specific when it comes to hardware. Ram is deffinitely a suspect.

A lot of your miniumps crash with a bugcheck of 8E.

0x0000008E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

A kernel mode program generated an exception which the error handler didn’t catch. These are nearly always hardware compatibility issues (which sometimes means a driver issue or a need for a BIOS upgrade).

Some also crash with a bugcheck of 7F.

0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common cause (many dozen KB articles exist for this error referencing specific hardware failures) and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.



Go HERE and follow the instructions.

You might also want to check your mobo for bulging, or leaking capacitors. See HERE for further info.

Disconnect anything not required to run your system, and try using just one stick of ram in various dimm slots.
