hi everyone

The problem i am having is my father in law wants to upgrade his 3gb hd to an 80gb hd both are western digitals.he has an asus pentium 3 550 mhz mobo
on the mother board it says p2b.which i am assuming is the model.i installed the 80 gb drive and it won't detect it it just locks up in cmos.i am thinking that his bios does not support that large size.he is using windows xp pro os.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

if it is a WD adn it is alone on the IDe ribbon it should not have a jumper. the newest models of WD drives require no jumper be set if they are alone on the IDe ribbon.

WD utility Disc should have a patch utility feature for patching a bios for drives larger than 37 gb on older mobo's. I know they used to include it.
