GTA: San Andreas loading problem

Hello,
Just recently I installed GTA: SA (pc) and the game installs fine, goes though the credits fine, and shows the loading screen, but after that it turns to black only showing the cursor and soon after it exits to my desk top. Any suggestions? could it be my dvd rom drivers or sound drivers?

Did you check the screen Resolution?

I dont know much about hardware but I get that problem with my games sometimes. Theres a good chance that all you need to do is mess with your screen resoluion. But if that doesn't work consult someone with more experience.
