So my very first question on this is (if its true of course, I doubt it tho): what do you do if you have to REPLACE your unit? Fire, theft, defective, etc...

I've seen this a few times on different sites. It would be a huge mistake by Sony. I certainly wouldn't buy a PS3 if it couldn't play rented games or games I bought used. I can't imagine anyone supporting a system like this.
