I went to upload some pics from my parents digi and when I plug in the usb it turns the computer off and I cant turn it back on unless I unplug it?

It might be the usb cable is bad. Try a different cable.
Maybe try a different usb port as well.

ya I've tried the diff ports as well as putting it in my comp and it didn't shut mine down.
