Pop ups and MSN problems PLEASE HELP!!!
Hi! When I open my internet explorer I get a lod of pop ups
! I have run a Ad-Aware 6.0 Scan, Registry Fix Scan, Microsoft Antispyware Scan, Norton antivirus scan and it still shows up. Also, when I'm using MSN messenger normaly when you double click on a contact in your list the chat window would normaly open, it doesn't anymore, I have to right click and select ''send message'' button I tried uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work, I have msn 7.5. The other thing would be when I'm on my msn messenger contacts page (the page where you see all your contacts online or not) well if I have other windows open in the bottom if i'm on that contacts page and I click to go on another page it won't switch unless I minimize the contacts page window than open the other window I want to switch too. It just gets annoying as these 2 problems I didnt have at first and now do! If anyone could help me out that would be much appreciated!!! THANK YOU |

As far as the popups, I am not all that deep with HijackThis or editing the registry, but I found two possibilities that you didn't mention in your first post that might be of help, since I have a cousin who is experiencing a pop-up issue, even without IE running.
(1) Spybot Search & Destroy, which discovered "newdotnet" (net.net) software on two registry key instances. Unfortunately the S&D didn't properly contain/eliminate the problem, so I looked further... (2) Bazooka, which also goes after keyloggers, just happened to find the exploit beehappy.biz that the others missed. It also gave me fairly detailed instructions to go into the registry (in safe mode, of course) and remove specific elements of the program. That specific computer still has pop-up issues, but far fewer than the 3-5 or so that were prevalent every time a new web page was accessed. It also got rid of that annoying "keyword" search that has recently surfaced. As a supplement to the above (and to what you already have, try): (3) CCleaner (literally, crap cleaner) that will do a one-step purge of those internet temp files and many other collectors of stale business. Google all three of the above. Hope that helps! |
