A adam24uk Mar 8, 2006 #1 I recently installed a new chip of ram into my second slot , one had 256mb and the new one 512mb .eveything was running fine then it started to continuously crash and restart. anyone know the problem??

DonNagual Posts: 2,385 +5 Mar 8, 2006 #2 You can try a bios update, sometimes this fixes things up, but in general motherboards don't like working with two sticks of different size ram. Is the new stick you bought at least the same speed as the first? Just to be sure it is not faulty ram, try running with ONLY the new 512mb in your computer.

A adam24uk Mar 8, 2006 #3 both sticks are the same speed, i tried the 512 on its own but comp failed to boot up properly.
