ATI gets Intel M bus license
ATI announced today they have signed a license deal with Intel for its bus technology used in the new Pentium M (part of the Centrino 'bundle'). Perhaps the most interesting result from this license is that it will allow ATI to develop chipsets with built-in graphics for the Pentium M platform, much like previous IGP chipsets have done with the Celeron, P4 and Athlon XP platforms.
Of course, I wouldn't mind a Centrino powered notebook with some good performing ATI graphics built-in, if you know what I mean. I'm sure these are also bad news for NVIDIA whose nForce chipsets remain with an AMD license only. |
