I've been using a 60gb external hard disk which I bought last September.I've formatted the disk and rename it as "leyza's" and have no difficulties in using it in my laptop or others before this.The disk was not in used for about 4 days..and when I plug in through USB recently, there is no autoplay window and no trace of new disk at 'my computer' as usual.But,there is safely remove hardware icon with different hardware's name,not like the one before.How can I recover all my files saved in the disk.Please help me..Recover files in my external hard disk

check power and usb connections ok?
remeber if you bumped/dropped it etc?
can you hear it spinning up/powering up?
any wierd noises? grinding, clicking etc..
try on a different pc
if your on winxp, goto [my computer (right click)>manage>storage devices] see if your drive comes up there
if it is truly a machanical faliure, then you'd ask yourself how important is your data...
and like the painfull and expensive lesson i've just learnt, backup regularly.....
