HELP needed! I have reset windows and now have no audio devices!
Hey dunno if anyone can help me here..... I reformatted a computer and installed windows. everything is working fine apart from there is no sound. the drivers have obviously uninstalled themselves.....and i do not have the installation disks!! I have searched the internet but do not really know what im looking for! HELP?!?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.
Do you have onboard sound, or a separate sound card? If you have onboard sound and your computer is an oem build, such as Dell/Compaq/Gateway etc. You can get your sound drivers etc from your computer manufacturers website. If your computer is not an oem build. You can get the sound drivers from your mobo manufacturers website. You should also install the chipset(mobo) drivers as well. If you have a separate sound card, you will need to go to your soundcard manufacturers website. Regards Howard

im not sure if its onboard or seperate, but pretty sure its onboard. how do i find out?

If you computers speakers are plugged in to the mobo`s line in socket, then your sound is onboard.
If the speakers are plugged into a separate card, then it`s not onboard sound. Regards Howard

I have the same problem but with an Advent 7101 Notebook.
I have reinstalled windows and i have no driver cd. At the same time i cannot download them from the advent website. I dont only need sound but others too. I think i have the following chipset Intel 915GM(Alviso)+ICH6-M theres also written on the notebook PC2001 Compliant AC97 Audio Thanx in advance you people always help out.
