x1800xt driver issue

x1800xt driver issue

I am getting the "Try installing standard VGA driver before continuing" error when I drive to install the 6.4 Catalyst driver. I have no idea whats going on...help would be appreciated.

try the oldiest driver you can find like the ones that came with the card on the cd.

Then you're going to have browse were the drivers are and manully install them.

Actually, just download and install (BUT DONT RUN!) Driver Cleaner Pro at:
www.drivercleaner.net

You'll need to follow it's directions completely, which involves basically:
1) Using Add/Remove Programs and removing ALL the ATI display driver, ccc, wdm, etc.etc. items (but DONT reboot until the final one).
2) Rebooting in Safe Mode as Administrator and running Driver Cleaner Pro.
3) Disconnecting the internet/broad band then rebooting in normal mode to install the Catalyst 6.4's
