What you might want to do is try your dvd drive in another pc if you can. It may simply be bad as they are cheaply made these days. I bet they cost no more than $2 parts and labor!

I burn dvds using Nero. There is a choice and i go for the "dvd-video" choice to burn my dvds.

I was able to burn a dvd, what I did was used a combination of anydvd, a decryptor, dvdshrink, and nero. I was able to get the .vob files shrunk and an entire move onto the dvd, but it wouldn't play in my dvd player (hooked up to tv). I wasn't able to hook the audio cable up to the dvd drive so maybe that's what's wrong, I had to use both audio cables for both burners. What am I doing wrong or what do I need?

ok, this should have worked, do the copied DVDs play on your computer?... some old dvd players can't play burnt dvds :S, maybe it's just time for new dvd player....

and for the audio cables.. I never thought these were necessary to connect.. except one system I had, it was a legacy machine with a P2, it required the audio cables to be connected to the sound card for audio cd playback?

what are your system specs?

I got a DVD burner a while back and had the same delema. But the DVD burner should be able to burn CD's just like your CD burner. At least that is what I did Just toss the dvd player because the DVD burner will play DVD's too.

Bye bye.
