Ive tired the paper clip method many many times and ive got no response. The location of the chip on the d800 is on the right top of the docking bay if your looking at the chip right side up. Not much was mentioned about which legs to short on my model but i tired combinations of all of them.Ive taken my machine apart so many times that i even dremeled holes the case for easy shorting. If theres a combinaton of legs to short or a method plz let me know.

I've a similar tale of woe concerning a Latitude D510, service tag #7VMNG1S-595B, HDD ID #2PAX2D5MDEG-595B
I got this from a deceased estate auction, minus the master boot password and HDD password. Dell don't believe it's really mine (quite rude), and were no help. I've managed to remove the master boot password by dismantling the laptop and shorting the EEPROM, but the HDD won't budge.

Unfortunately the HDD Unlocker didn't work for me - mine is one of the brands not supported. What a bummer!
Looks like my only recourse is to hope for a serial from Rustam (go Rustam!) or buy a new hard drive.
I found a comment on another forum (can't remember which one) that said in this situation (ie Master Password unlocked, HDD locked) if you instal a new HDD this may become locked. I was under the impresssion that locking/encryption data was stored on the HDD, not on the MoBo. Anyone heard this?
I'd hate to buy a new HDD and end up in the same situation!

Nope doesnt happen, the drive can be swapped quite safely and the password will show as unset in the BIOS.

As for the unsupported type I will investigate a bit further and add a list of supported drives, thanks for the info

Oh great Guru Rustam, my story is not an orriginal one but I hope it will be worthy of your help. I'm working on a Dell Inspiron 1100 that the current owner took as colatteral for loaning the previous owner some money to travel out of the country. the current owner says he saw the previous owner working on the laptop several times so either this person knew the password or there wasn't a password untill the laptop was handed over in exchange for the cash. In any case, it would be nice to get a password so this trusting sole can at least make use of the laptop. It's Service tag # DNKBM51-A95B. thanks in advance for your help.

So here is my story.
A friend of mine don't know anything about computers, he actually work in a bakery shop and one of his customer convinced him that he need a laptop to work, he ordered a big cake and then he sold him a brand new Dell Latitude D610 for too much money... Of course the laptop was discharged when my friend got it and when it was ready to boot, the seller was far away... There comes the grey screen, the bios password and... a cake for nobody.
My friend just promised me to make a giant cake for my birthday at no cost if i can unlock his brand new and... "fuc**ing useless" laptop :-)

Ok, so you say you forgot your Windows administrator's password, huh? Oh well, it doesn't really matter if you did or you just say you did. The fact is that you need to gain access to a computer and you cannot "remember" the administrator's password.

How can you get out of this situation without formatting and re-installing the operating system?

One method of gaining access to the system is by trying hard to remember the forgotten password, or a password of another user which has the same level of administrative rights. However I don't think this approach will help you, otherwise you wouldn't be sitting here reading article, would you?)

Another method is by trying to restore a backed up System State (in Windows 2000/XP/2003) or a ERD (in NT 4.0) in which you do remember the password. The problem with doing so is that you'll probably lose all of the recently add users and groups, and all the changed passwords for all of your users since the last backup was made.

A third method might be to install a parallel operating system on a different partition on the same computer, then use a simple trick to gain access to the old system.

You are so wrong where Dell laptops are concerned it is not even funny and stupid any more.

Yeah. A BIOS password on a laptop is non-erasable using such a method since it is on a EEPROM chip, which is (as the name says) Read-Only. It can only be done by shorting this chip or by erasing the data using UV or a software program. And most of the tips posted by sovindustry are completely useless since they don't relate to the BIOS password at all. They don't solve anyone's problems so please keep such thoughts to urself before posting useless comments like these sovindustry.

From someone who has much experience with this, the post you made is a complete waste of time, you post a post and you dont give answers, I mean come on is there a point ?.

3 ways to get past an NTFS password

1) reinstall, easiest by far

2) use a linux boot disk available at http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

3) slave the drive to a working machine and delete the sam file found in..

c:\winnt (or c:\windows) system32\drivers\etc

This will clear all account passwords and will allow you to log onto windows as administrator with a blank password.

Oh yeah there is a fourth, to use a program called L0phtcrack, it is a good prog and works but can take anything up to 4 days to find the password.

i have a Dell Latitude CPx laptop which keep on asking a password during boot-up and/or when pressing F2. (This computer system, #F5I7J**-D35B, is protected by a password authentication system. You cannot access the data of this computer without the correct password.)

i am a teacher by profession and i really need this laptop which was given to me becuase of this problem. am hoping you could extend your help to me for me to be able to use the said laptop.

Since your laptop still has -d35B Password and Service Tag, try this one kpnhay4d from Latitude Master_PW V2.20. Type it in with caplocks off and do not capitalize the letters, press CTRL and then press Enter 3 times.

Same story, like on the last 3 pages, got this laptop for my boy in the highschool from a friend, (who past away last week) but the laptop is looking for a password, asking us to type in the primary or administrator password. We just don't know what it is.
