Hi All,

Please help.
I am trying to work through the steps to clear a virus.

I have downloaded smitfraudfix and extracted all files - when clicking on the cmd file however, a box pops up and shuts down - i dont see the menu...

would you know why this is?

Use the command window to run Smitfraudfix.

I suggest creating a new folder on your root drive (C:\) and placing those extracted files in that directory. (C:\Smitfraudfix)

Go to Start-->Run and type 'cmd' (without the quotes). Then hit OK.

In the window that opens browse to where you have extracted Smitfraudfix (type 'c:\' then type 'cd\smitfraudfix') and run the 'Smitfraudfix.cmd' file.

If it still doesn't show you the menu it should at least give you an error message that you can post here for us to look at.

I have tried this but am getting;

C:\SmitfraudFix\SmitfraudFix>SmitfraudFix.cmd
'find' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Skip step 3 for now and continue with the rest of the steps.

Post a fresh HJT log into this thread, only after doing the above.
