Yay Laptop!

Ok so I graduate High School in 5 days and my parents come to me and say, for college, we want to get you a laptop.

My parents are very cheap...so this was a total shocker.

My Budget...$2000. Less is better.

My Goals.

Fairly Portable (doesnt have to be extremely thin)
Quality (This should last me 4 years)
Decent Performance (Moderate Gaming: bf2 on low)
And im also thinking about a macbook..

I have found this here

But I am unsure how the x1400 performs. I mean i dont need killer graphics by any means, but i think a x1600 might be a better choice.

Help me techspot!

And i know..why in here? Well this fits in Video, Other Hardware, Sorta in software..so i just put in here!

i'd go with a macbook, and then run bootcamp or parallels incase you need to be able to access any windows apps for classes, etc. can't go wrong w/ a mac.

After Recalculating my budget, Im not going to be able to afford $2000.00

So a decent mac is out of the question.

That said does anyone have Benchmarks on Mobile GPUs?

I have been looking at
x700
Go 6600
x1600

But I cant find a solid benchmark anywhere!

Get a Macbook. The prices are very reasonable: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...family=MacBook

But I need the ability to do some gaming. And none of those low end macbooks have a dedicated graphics card.

hmm, that puts you in a tough spot. how much would it cost you to put in a decent graphics card? because a macbook would be sweet in all other respects.
