I bought this notebook in feb. or march and yesterday i was downloading my pictures from my camera to it and the screen went dark, not black. i can still see some things on it but it's difficult. it's a Viao VGN-FS710/W, i have restarted it, messed with the brightness, and nothing has worked. it's new and it wasn't used, so i don't know what is going on.

If you bought the notebook this recent- it is possible it may still be covered under warranty.

You may have a power supply issue - is your computer running on batteries?

or

You have a video cable (internal) that is loose.

Other possibilities include you may have set it on power save mode. Screens will dim to save battery power.
