What are some good Linux benchmark applications?
Hey crew,
I'm going to be running benchmarks on a device with Monta Vista Linux installed, with the possiblity of Red Hat Linux being installed later. My Linux knowledge is very n00b and I hoped someone could recommend some benchmarking applications. I'm looking at all aspects of the device - memory,CPU, data read/write speeds (similar to SYSMARK, 3D MARK, etc)- as well as making sure all the hardware is reported correctly (in a similar style to CPU-Z on the PC). Any help would be spanktastically gobbled up! |

What are you going to do with the benchmark results?
AFAIK ther are no "universal" benchmark utilities for Unix. Mostly because there are a lot of diferent versions and no "universal" systems. Usually you benchmark for some specific application. Bonnie(++) are fairly standard filesystem/disk benchmarking things. x11perf and xbench to test the X video system (2D). You see reported hardware in dmesg output. |

ya i don't really know any. closest thing that i know of is you can type "glxgears" in the terminal and see how many fps your computer does for some 3d gears.
