T.I.M. question

Hey all. Up until now I have been using thermal pads as the TIM between heatsink and CPU. I now want to try some Arctic Silver 5. Although I have some questions.

Is arctic silver 5 better than a thermal pad?

Is it safe to use on an

Athlon XP 2700+ (2.16GHz)
MSI 6800GT GPU

I'm sure it would be pretty safe although I just need some reassurance. The main question is, would it be safe to use on the

RAM chips of my 6800GT.

I have heard arctic silver 5 could be troublesome on RAM chips. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

System specs
thermal grease is by far, better than a pad.

I wouldn't use it on ram chips. Thermal grease is conductive.

Cheers Tedtser.

What do you suggest I use on the RAM chips. What be safe, yet good at giving good performance at the same time.
