I'm stumped, BSOD problem that I can't solve
A few months ago my PC started giving me a BSOD while playing world of warcraft. Then it also started giving me one while using bit torrent programs. Within a month I couldn't even load into WoW without getting a BSOD, and as soon as I'd start up a bit torrent program... BSOD. I tried a few things to fix it but nothing worked, so I purchased new parts and built a new comp. The only things I took from my old PC was the audigy 2 sound card, a 200gig WD drive that i use for data, my usb adsl modem, and things like monitor/keyboard etc.
Once the new PC was up and running, I tried using bit torrent... BSOD, WoW... BSOD. It seems to be only those 2 things that do it for me. It happened randomly once while playing another game but never again with that game. I hooked my old PC back up to make sure it wasn't the sound card or hdd causing the problems and I still got a BSOD. Only other thing I could think of was my modem, I updated to the latest drivers, no success. I am just getting really frustrated and want to get this issue resolved so any help would be appreciated. Here's the error log. what is the hardware on your system? what is the brand and wattage of your PSU? when you built the new system did you do a clean format and reinstall of windows on the hard drive?

My new system is an athlon 64 3200+, 1gig of ram, XFX GeForce 7600GS, Gigabyte K8NF-9 nForce4-4X chipset motherboard. I installed xp sp2 on a new hard drive, the old hard drive is still only being used to store data. my psu is a thermaltake 430Watts.

Have you tried testing your ram with memtest? the first thing I would suspect would be the ram or the power supply.

I tested the RAM in my old PC and it was fine, but I'm getting the same errors with my old PC and the new PC, both have different RAM, both have a different power supply. The only hardware that i took from my old PC to the new PC is my soundcard, data hdd, and usb modem + peripherals.
*Edit*- just wrote down the msg that comes with my bsod DRIVER_IRQC_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ***STOP 0x000000D1 (0x00000008, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF72c8c00) *** NDIS.sys - Address F72c8c00 base at F72B3000, Date stamp 41107ec3 *Edit no.2* - after doing some more research i'm guessing that it's an issue with my usb modem? I have a d-link dsl-200 with updated drivers. Last edited by Pry; 06-22-2006 at 05:56 AM.. |

it definetly sounds like a modem issue. i had a similar problem, where i would get a bsod if i tried to let chkdsk run at windows startup, but only if the usb modem was connected. it would also reference ndis.sys as the problem. since i switched to a router, the problem has magically disappeared. it was stupid of me not to try it without the modem connected lol.
try running WoW and bittorent without the modem. |

All your BSODs crash at "gwausb.sys" with a bugcheck of D1. "gwausb.sys" seems to be your usb modem driver.
