noob to linux

i was just wondering......knoppix is a cd bootable version of linux right? so can you use programs from ur hard drive or how would that happen? and in order to use knoppix u can just download it, burn it onto a cd then reboot from the cd?

it is possible, but the programs would have to be Linux binaries and not Windows.

Yes, download the image, burn it to a CD, the boot from it. Your windows partitions will be displayed on the desktop when u boot up.
