How do I record & Protect My Data on a DVD ?

Hi,

I would like to back up my sensitive files on a DVD and mail it to overseas but I want to make sure that nobody can open those files but me until when I get there.

Is this possible ?

If yes, how ?

Thanks Much.

Umm, that wouldn't be such a good idea. I don't think encryption is possible on a DVD-R disc.

Make a password-protected RAR archive of those files and burn that.

otherwise, there is some backup programs that needs to have the same hardware ID to match up to be able to be opened.. though that would mean that you need to bring your pc over there (or maybe the dvd drive?).

I cant recall what programs they were so i think the winRAR/ZIP + encryption is the most easiest.. and free.

Now can you please tell me how I encrypt those files ?

Will they decrypt automatically when I open the RAR files ?

Thanks Much.

They're not encrypted, just compressed into an archive and given a password. U just send the person the file and tell them the password. That way, no one else but them and u will be able to open the file.

And it goes without saying that you send them the password in another letter or in an email.
