From Melb here.
I've been following the prices, and I can see that Conroe prices are dropping from their crazy premiering price.
You've been doing your homework there, but I can make some suggestions
Mother
board: Gigabyte 965P-DS3 $257 - MSY (
www.msy.com.au)
PSU: Antec NeoHe 550W $185 - CPL (
www.cpl.net.au)
Comments:
Price for m/b is 2 bux cheaper than you mentioned (LOL)
PSU I'd recommend the NeoHe, since its from a much more reputable brand. Tt apparently makes crap PSUs (even their high end ones), but this may be outdated knowledge. Either way, there's only a 50W difference, and since you're not running SLI, there's no real need for anything bigger. The NeoHe costs the same, and is one of the most efficient PSUs around (and quiet).
RAM can be upgraded to a 6400, but since its conna cost you quite abit more, this is a personal choice. I'd recommend leave it, and upgrade to 6400 when the prices go down. The prices should dip really soon, since fabs are now switching from DDR to DDR2 production now.
Case chosen is a really recommended one. However, if you can wait for it, I'd wait for a mATX m/b for Conroe, and use that. SFF has a higher "kool" factor to it (at least to me). Depends on your need really, I just want to promote SFF now
Conclusion:
Really well researched, I wouldn't change too much from that.
