not able to connect broadband!!!My system hangs!!!

I am not able to connect to broadband after I installed a firewire (of Novatech)The moment I switch on the broadband my system gets struck. Please help me to solve this......I am using XP SP2.My network card is Realtek RTL8139 PCI fast ethernet NIC.

Here are the details.

My system is running on XP SP2, with P4 processor, 2.4 Hz, 512 RAM
The network card i use is Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast ethernet NIC of version 5.649 and my system is not connected in any network.

When the firewire (of Novatek making) is disconnected there is no problem at all to connect broadband. But i need the firewire however along with the broadband. Looking forward to your valuable suggestions.
