[QUOTE=raybay;710693]Bestec Power supplies ruin hardly any motherboards in HP, Compaq, or Gateway... Rarely do we see bad ones in our shop, unless somebody tries to upgrade the Video Graphics card beyond what the power supply can handle.

That is true but you have to come to terms with the fact e-machine is no longer a computer manuf, but simply a logo for gateway and what they have been about for a long time upgradeable platforms. I would like to hear what you have to say about my system specs RayBay and yes i know this is not the best computer or a gaming machine by far yet but by god it can play some games about any one i grab off of the shelf. Now if i can find a AM2 processer that i like enough to put on here i will but i assume i will just buy a MOBO / CPU combo when i upgrade. I would like to know if one of the models that you have on your list is Post gateway takeover ?

Hey RayBay?

How often do people bring in perfectly healthy computers to your repair facility?

So all you see are the BAD ones, duh. Ever think you see so many because there's so many people that BUY them?

What is it you really have against Gateway/eMachines and now technically Acer?

Jeesh.

OK, Let's See If I'm Up to Speed on This One.......

Raybay, if I've grasped the fundamentals of your stance on Emachines correctly, Emachines manufactured, (or is manufacturing), lousy computers. These machines break down and you are forced to repair them, (under duress of course, with great weeping and gnashing of teeth), at your computer fixing shop/place. So, to distill this concept into a little rhyme, the more they break, the more you make. Forgive me for saying so, but doesn't all the kvetching you do boil down to, "crying all the way to the bank".

I'm with you though big guy, I say my prayers every night thusly, "and most of all, please God, don't ever allow a quality Emachine to be built. I have people that depend on them for their livelyhood, and nobody wants to see a nice family go hungry"! "(Least of all me)". I say that last part to myself, (paranthetically), but I know in my heart, that God hears those words as well.

I got a T3120 model emachines back in 06'. I don't know how hardware goes bad but I can say this computer has been running 90% of the time since I bought it (i'm lazy). It was the cheapest desktop best buy had. I was working at Mcdonalds then so... I hardly ever clean it out but I dunno. I been wanting to build my own for a long time but I have just been waiting for this one to become useless...

I got my T-5026 back in Feb 2005, and although I'm certain it doesn't run as much as yours, it's a year or so older and still just running dandy.

I am curious though, why do you feel need for the Emachines to blow up before you build a new one? Affluence and happiness reside in the 2 computer (at minimum) household.

You really do need one computer to build another. You know, one to hit the internet to shop for parts and visit Techspot. Plus it would save your new machine for special occasions. sort of like taking the Chevy to the supermarket, while saving the Mercedes for the opera. I have neither, just drawing an analog.

I only want to build one for fun not because I need something better. I'm still young and hardly ever think about computers when I get paid - except for my new wireless keyboard and mouse I got today.. Also my mom has a pretty up to date laptop just in case... Oh and we got an old dell with good enough specs and another comp from a garage sale with better specs than mine for $3.00.

you beat me to it. I was thinking the same thing. I just upgraded a REALLY old emachine in immaculate condition from ME to 2000. It was in perfect shape. like I've said before, they ALL will break down eventually.
