I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 and I was wondering why when sometimes I start it up and go to My Computer, It does not even see that i have a cd drive?

I don't think there is much advice to give here. You can try running an entire OS off of it and see if it works all the time. http://www.knoppix.com/
