Firstly, Terry Makedon at ATi has cofirmed the release date of the next Catalyst Driver set, the 3.5s. There have been some leaked drivers going around that are not official, and he says use them at your own risk. Read the interview at Warp2Search

Next is this article at X-BitLabs that claims the next generation ATi cards, the R420, is going to be twice as fast as the 9800 Pro. That's kind of hard to believe.

Lastly, this artcle at Beyond3D that talks about problems nVidia is having with the 130 nm process. If this is true, nVidia is going to have some serious delays with there new cards.
