Industry group urges government to think twice on open source

I missed this story yesterday, see how do you like this... As we have been covering for the last few months, the United Kingdom and most of the European Union countries have been working and planning to move to Open Source software in order to cut costs.

An industry group backed by Microsoft, IBM, Intel, BAE Systems and other high-tech heavyweights has urged the UK government to show restraint in its use of open-source software, particularly software covered by the General Public License (GPL).

You can read the entire story here, a very interesting read that brings up some points for the government to consider.

Funny how the industry group all stands to loose income if the UK government does this. I hope this does go forward, and I will continue by Linux learning for several years, and then maybe get a LInux system administrator job for the government.
