Windows Virtual Memory Drop

I'm seeing a blue screen, white font error message when I boot up...it will not let me into windows and I'm trying to resolve the problem.

The error message contains "Virtual memory error" then it proceeds to dump the virtual memory, after it completes it flashes "contact your system administrator" and reboots the computer.

What can I do to remedy this problem?? Also, what is causing this? Thanks!!

If you can go into Safe Mode...

Right click "My Computer"
Hit "Properties"
Hit "Advanced"
Hit "Performance - Settings"
Make sute under Virtual Memory that "Let Windows choose VM Settings" is selected. If Not, select it and apply and reboot.

Thanks for the quick response!

Unfortunately, it won't even let me in through safe mode or any of the other available options.

Is there an alternative option?

Do the above step and look for any programs that are eating up your memory.

System specs
Try an XP repair by booting from the XP CD. Act like you are installing XP fresh, but when you get to the first repair option using the repair console, continue on to the second repair option and select "yes"... Let the install finish. When you reboot, your desktop and programs will still be there, and your computer might be able to boot properly then
