RAM Upgrade Help

Hi I recently purchased 2GB of RAM for my Dell Dimension 3000. I installed the RAM and the problem is that it only recognizes a total of 1GB (512KB of each chip). So my question is does anybody know how to correct this problem?

Im asuming this is 2x 1GB sticks, if both sticks are of a different band, variety or series etc. (not completely identical) then only one will function however if both are exactly the same in every way then im afraid i cant help

Yep both are the same brand, series, etc. But thanks anyways.
