I have two friends, with two different eMachines stories. One has had his for about 2 years, without any problems or defects. (made before the major SNAFUS) and the other bought one about 2-3 months ago. This one has had the power supply die, he got it replaced, and now the mobo is dead. Power supply still works though... (Antec)

For the processor, what would be a good replacement board that doesn't cost too much? (ASUS or nVidia prefered, less than $80?)

EDIT: Socket mPGA-478

I am stuck with the same problem. I have an E machine t3958 , I opened case for cleaning . Plugged everything back together , and NOTHING. Little green light is ON on the motheboard but nothing is working. I mistakenly disconnected the three cords from the front panel and did not pay attention to where they go back. I have looked at the manual and still cant figure out where they go.
can you help a very fustrated dork out and tell me which goes where?? After reading around on this site i think my motherboard is gone but want to get these wires hooked back up first to see what happens.......

System specs
Buy a momentarily closed pushbutton switch from Radio Shack and mount it anywhere on the case front... Attach the wires from the old switch to the new switch. Simple fix, and cheap too, under $10 bucks easily

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anybody could help me out ....
My E Machine died on me after 2 years. I checked all the sources for error, cables, power supply etc,but my OS won't load, my screen is blank and none of my input devices are working...
So I decided to heck with Emachine for Life ! Now I am planning to building a new PC with the parts from the Emachine, previously I installed a brand new 400gigs IDE hard disk , 1 gig graphics, card, a new dvd drive in my emachine. Now I want to build a new Pc using the previous supplies... I know I need a new MOBO but I don't exactly know which kind.... to buy Today most of them are SATA and mine HD and DVD is IDE and I wanted to to convert my processor to Intel. Any help would be appreciated. ....Thanks...
