DVD drive recognises CD's but not DVD's

Hi

My DVD drive has stopped recognising DVDs. It used to work fine but now, when I put a dvd in the drive it spins but then if I try to play it I get an error telling me there is no disk in the drive.

CDs play fine.

I was using Power DVD but updated to PowerDVD 7 when it stopped working. I have uninstalled the drive and let windows find it again but still no DVD playback.

Help.

Have you tried other DVDs that only contain files and not movies?

If it wont recognize any kind of DVDs, then my guess says it's a faulty drive.

One thing that I noticed with my computer is that it will not recognize DVD's if my computer has been on for too long. I usually reboot it and then the DVD's are recognized.

In that case I would advise you to test the DVD drive in another computer.
