DVD drive recognises CD's but not DVD's
Hi
My DVD drive has stopped recognising DVDs. It used to work fine but now, when I put a dvd in the drive it spins but then if I try to play it I get an error telling me there is no disk in the drive. CDs play fine. I was using Power DVD but updated to PowerDVD 7 when it stopped working. I have uninstalled the drive and let windows find it again but still no DVD playback. Help. |

Have you tried other DVDs that only contain files and not movies?
If it wont recognize any kind of DVDs, then my guess says it's a faulty drive. |

One thing that I noticed with my computer is that it will not recognize DVD's if my computer has been on for too long. I usually reboot it and then the DVD's are recognized.

In that case I would advise you to test the DVD drive in another computer.
