Unable to install IE7 or WMP | BSOD

After a virus Internet explorer failed to work anymore, not much trouble as i never used it, but recently a virus took Windows Media Player down now.

I tried to install windows media player 11 again but cant.
Every time it passed the creating system restore point a BSOD shows.
I haven't got much evidence on what it says right now, but the main line shows System32:LZX32.sys.

I recently removed a virus called lzx32 but the BSOD still shows the .sys message on IE or WMP install. I turned off zonealarm and AVG before install, but no luck.

I looked through processes and got rid or any un-needed but still no luck.
The exact same error shows for internet explorer 7, which i do now need working correctly for various updates. But also because some things only work in IE.

I looked up this message on the internet but nothing relates to both IE7 and WMP.

Specs
Windows Xp home SP2
1024 ram
DSL net

arieas

are you still having this problem?
I seem to have fixed the error i was getting
I downloaded the following software....it's free.
http://www.superantispyware.com/

I installed that and it came up with a trojan on my computer that nothing else had found.

the other thing i did was go to

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/default.htm

and use that. it also found 3 probs on my computer.
Since i've used both of those I've not had freezes and i've installed ie7.

hope this helps
