Windows doesn't shut down

Hi TS-ers

Today, windows started playing up. I go to start, shut down, turn off. And nothing happens. I felt this is was very odd.
Any ideas?

Take a look at this Windows Shutdown troubleshooter. It covers just about every shutdown issue I`ve heard of.
