Windows Vista sleep problem

I have recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate on a new PC with Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor and Radeon X1550 video card. I have set up a hardware RAID 1 (mirrored) array for my two WD SATA hard disks.

The installation was straightforward and Vista is stable, except that occasionally (not always, though) when the system goes to sleep, it will not wake up again. The only solution is a hard reset, after which the RAID array needs to be verified, though Windows has booted without problem.

I know there have some power management issues with Vista, so I would be interested to know if people think this is something that will be resolved by future patches or if there is likely to be another cause. I have installed the latest drivers for all components, including the ATI video drivers.

Should I flash the BIOS to the latest F8 version (I currently have F6), as I have read that a BIOS upgrade could solve such problems? I am a bit reluctant to do this because a) I think it may break the RAID array (is this right? I don't want to reinstall Windows) and b) I have an OEM version of Windows and I have read that it may require re-activation/validation if the BIOS is upgraded.

I am also confused because the Award BIOS Agent tells me the motherboard is ACPI 1.0, whereas I have seen elsewhere that Vista requires ACPI 2.0.

Does anyone have any ideas/solutions?

Thanks

TH

I would say do the BIOS update, BUT REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOUR EXISTING BIOS!!!!!!!!!! I cant stress that enough, if your bios fails a flash, your computer goes boom! But they will probably put out a patch. Personally im not going to purchase/install vista for a couple more months. Too many bugs, too little techs working on them all.
