Which version of BASIC should my kid use ?

I have QBASIC ver 4.5, on my PC.

My son, 7th grade, is starting out in writing BASIC programs.

Can some one suggest what interpreter/compiler would be best ?

QBasic is the best beginner-level compiler IMO. I have used QBasic and GWBasic, and I find QBasic a lot better. Other great ones that have mouse support as well as MIDI support include JustBasic, PureBasic and FreeBasic.
