Hello people, got some really annoying popups on my computer! They all appear to have CiD: on them.

I'm sure it installed it's self when i installed messnger plus. I have uninstalled Messenger Plus but still get the poups

My AVG Anti Spyware is not picking it up either.

Any help would be great!

Your system is infected with the lop advertising trojan. This isn`t particularly harmful, but is annoying. Having said that, I`d also like to check your system for any other nasties as well.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

[b]Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT).[/b] See how [URL="http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html"]HERE[/URL].

[b]In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system".[/b] See how [URL="http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html"]HERE[/URL].

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

SettingsBias.exe

Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mail bone deaf glue] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Meta stupid mail bone\SettingsBias.exe

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following [b]bold[/b] files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\[b]Meta stupid mail bone[/b]<Delete the entire folder.

Reboot into normal mode and rehide your protected OS files.

Other than the above, your HJT log is clean.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

I think all the accounts on my comp are admin accounts, will that be a problem?

May I enquire how do you know under what circumstances (such as these) to do the cleaning in safe mode, and why should we turn on 'show all files and folders' whilst doing it?

Booting into safe mode, helps stop the nasty processes from running and makes it easier to get rid of them.

Turning on show all files and folders, including hidden and system files, disables Windows file protection, which would ordinarily prevent certain files from being deleted. It also helps in the location of files that would otherwise be hidden from view.

Just logged on to my computer now, first time since i got rid of the popups, and their back! Shall I post a nother HJT Log?

Followed the instructions again...seem to be popup free.

I found a file called 'clock error size' and i deleted it because the content seemed dogy. will post print screens to see if I made the right choice.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 from [URL="http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.zip"]HERE[/URL]. Save it to your Desktop and extract it.

2. Download the attached avengerscript.txt and save it to your desktop

3. Now, start The Avenger program by double clicking on its icon on your desktop.

Under "Script file to execute" choose "Load script from file".
Now click on the folder icon which will open a new window titled "open Script File"
navigate to the file you have just downloaded, click on it and press open
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please attach the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply, as well as a fresh HJT log.
