need help with router ports

hi guys excuse and me for taking your time
I need some open ports on my office router, and I told the network manager but she said your pc uses mask (invalid) ip and I can't open ports for that.
any question will be answered, and any help will be regarded

doesn't make sense.

The issue for the net admin is, opening a port for you, implies that no other
user can use that port -- it's all or nothing.

What port number and tcp protocol do you need?
Normally, we open ports so that users outside our organizatin can get access
to an application we are running. What application is on your PC and why is it
not on one the company's server?
 
Maybe she meant that the IP addresses are allocated dynamically from a pool? Port forwarding wouldn't be reliable with a dynamic IP and any outgoing port rules would have to be made for the entire subnet (a security hole).
 
I want Some open ports for downloading torrent!
and she said she can do that (router settings, I know she uses cisco) for valid ip's and my pc has an invalid one and she couldn't fix it for me
 
Uhm.. If she is the network administrator, then any "invalid" IP addresses are her problem!

I smell incompetence.. Or maybe inability to explain stuff to you.
 
hey guys just plz tell me what I should ask her to solve my problem or her problem??!
 
if the IP address is invalid, then the system has no network access what-so-ever, no email, no sharing, no internet.

if this is true, the first step is to get a valid ip address
 
But I have internet and even could download torrents
but with a low speed under 25
I think she was meaninig something like mask ip by saying it's not valid
 
are you at a place of business you won't be allowed under security rules to open ports up on your system..

To help you, we need a good statement from the admin as to what the problem might be -- corp rules, network standards, some specific details as to what is wrong.
Until then, we're all playing a guessing game :)
