can anyone explain core 2 duo processors, quad core processors and prescott pentium 4 cpu's.
I was just wondering if you buy a core 2 duo cpu e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Socket 775 2.4GHz. does that mean this processor has a speed of 4.8ghz, as it has 2x2.4ghz chips. Because pentium 4 prescott cpu's, are single core and there is 1 that i have seen that runs at 3.4ghz, which buy the clock frequency looks to be a faster than the 2.4ghz dual core chip, can someone please explain which is faster and why?
