my hp pavilion dv5000 has many problems like its not finding a hard disk drive

i have an hp pavilion dv5000 and at first i had a "blue screen" problem so my friend thought reformatting my hard drive will help but no i have no OS and when i try to put one in it says like "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your system" please help i dont know what to do

What is the error code on the blue screen message.

Look for specific numbers such as 0x---------
Also anything such as PAGE_FAULT

System specs
if the HD is SATA you will need the drivers for that drive when installing and formatting.
