I just bought a used laptop and directx is not running on it! and because of that i can't use alot of programs that require directx, i downloaded it but it still does not on the laptop, i had the same problem with yahoo I M and found that i had to put some code in run in order for the laptop to allow me from using yahoo, I AM WONDERING IF THERE IS A CODE OR SOMETHING THAT I HAVE TO PUT IN RUN IN ORDER FOR DIRECTX TO RUN ON MY LAPTOP. Please help if you know what might be causing this problem.

You shouldnt need any codes for DirectX or any application, it may be something the previous owner has done to the operating system prior to getting rid of it, or he got rid of it because of the problems.

I think your best bet would be to wipe the laptop and start again with a fresh install of the operating system as there may be other things wrong with it.
