Hi I have just bought myself an Advent 7011 from ebay...The seller stated that the only negative is that the battery doesnt last all that long...but the laptop seems to be switching itself off even when Im running it off mains power? Also I have tried to boot the laptop with the battery removed (using Mains) but it would not start. Ive only had the laptop 3 days and the longest it lasts before switching itself of is approx 2.5 hrs. Once it has switched itself off the laptop needs a "good rest" before restarting again. Could it be the laptop is overheating?? Finally by switching itself off I can still hear the fan working and I can still see the outline of whatever was on the screen prior to blacking out, but it is to dark to see a mouse movement.

Honestly, I would return it to the seller and get a refund. I'm sure you don't want to hear that but it's not worth the aggravation and money.
