A software that allows you to self host !

I just came across Purplenova in a magazine, Host Review and though of using it, I found it quite cool and exciting

It is a software that allows users to host content straight from your PCs. Its a new way of Hosting content.

You can find out more about it from their website http://www.purplenova.com

Also I am just posting a link to one of my files that I hosted using Purplenova. Its a picture of the new Google homepage. Take a look at it,

Well, I am just doing it for fun.

after you posted this question, just pondered over and though about its probable implications, It could be used to share heavy picture albums and video's, also to host website, well I think which I like the most is that, I have to just host my fav playlist at home and carry the URL and I can access it from my college cantene and from my tution class.

System specs
i think its a web server software and if it is so then there are 1000s of such software available on web for free.like abysws webserver, savant web server(this is the best), sambar web server etc etc..and for advanced users apache is the best.

It is only helpful to call something the best, when you describe what is best about it. Although I have used Apache for 10 years, and agree that it is very good, I see nothing to recommend Sambar, Abysws, and Savant over a couple of dozen others. Tell us more.

The difference between the alternatives mentioned and Purplenova is that with Purplenova you dont have to worry about static / dynamic IPs, dyn-dns, NAT devices, etc. Secondly, Purplenova protects you from several types of internet attacks such as DOS. Lastly, with Purplenova, hosting is as easy as a drag-n-drop.

For further technical details, kindly take a look at their whitepaper at
