Delay specialist ATI (division of AMD) has released a new Catalyst version for the latest Radeon cards. Version 7.8 supports the HD 2000 series and boasts an enhanced version of ATI Overdrive for the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Series and ATI Radeon HD 2400 series.

This new version of ATI Overdrive includes a new stress test application to verify any over-clocking speeds users may have configured (either manually or through the auto-tuning tool).

In terms of performance improvements the Catalyst 7.8 brings:

- 11% or greater performance increase in Lost Planet DX10 with anti-aliasing on Radeon HD2900XT products
- up to 6% increase in 3DMark 2006 and 3DMark 2005 for Radeon HD 2600 and Radeon HD 2400 (single and CrossFire)
- 14.5% increase in Serious Sam 2 with HDR enabled on Radeon HD 2900, 2600 and 2400 series
