Parallel Device
Compaq nx9005. New install of XP Pro from standard CD as no recovery tools available. Installed all drivers without problem except 1 - system keeps finding a Parallel Device. It is not the parallel port as that is there and working.
Any ideas what this is, anyone? |

Did you change any parallel port settings? Windows considers standard, ECP and EPP mode parallel ports as different devices, so when you change the mode in BIOS for example, Windows redetects the thing.
Try deleting the parallel port in Device Manager and rebooting. |

It has only the ECP mode set - this was a fresh install following a failed HDD and we did not have the compaq system restore CDs - this is the only driver we had trouble with. Is not a big deal as the printer works OK. Just looks untidy. And yes, tried removing the LPT port and letting the system put it back - no change. Thanks for your input.
