Dell Latitude c840: want to go from 1.6Ghz to 2.4Ghz
hey everybody. i have a dell latitude 1.6Ghz. I keep seeing that these laptops can be upgraded to 2.4ghz, but i've taken my laptop apart and can't really see how to install a 2.4Ghz processor even if i did buy one.
How does one install a new processor on a c840? thanks |

most laptops have cpus hard soldered - though not all. If it isn't - it's a simple swap. If not, I hope your soldering skills are excellent. Verify several times that the new cpu can be put into the mobo before doing anything. also know that your warranty is voided.

is this process of removing the heatsink and thermal pasting things back together risky or recommended? i'm way past warrenty, so i'm not too worried about that. i just don't want to ruin the whole thing by screwing up!
