Newest Nvidia Video Drivers In Vista 32bit Fan Speed Control Problem

I just noticed that any driver newer than the 158.24's has no automatic fan speed control anymore(i.e. in 2d mode or low power 3d it's normally slower/quieter). It's annoying to me, since I want the latest drivers, and my 7800gt cooler is loud with these newer drivers which max the fan at 100% all the time. Is this an "oversight" or possibly an incompatibility with the 7800gt? I can't see why they'd "downgrade" the feature set of the newest drivers. Why Nvidia, why?

This is a safety feature to keep the video graphics card at an adequate temperature. Too many video graphics cards were getting cooked.

You can always go back to an earlier driver, as they remain available.
