www.google.com is a WONDERFUL RESOURCE!

ipconfig displays your computer network information such as:
Your IP(Internet Protocol) Address.
The IP Address of your router/modem(default gateway)
Your subnet mask which is basically just an organization scheme for IPs to exist.

Tracert is a ICMP command similar to PING. If you don't know what ping is, basically it checks network connectivity by sending bytes of data and echoing back to you for connectivity.

From your house to WWW.GOOGLE.COM's server are a bunch of routers along the way. If you were to type tracert www.google.com it would ping each router along the way. It basically just shows you where your packet is headed, and which routers it crosses to get there.

Completely different commands.
