LOL! Who thought ciggys could be funny. LOL
But I lost my granddad to lung cancer caused by smoking. (R.I.P)
I guess thats why I am so emotional about the topic. Hmmm thats maybe why i started this topic. (subconsciously)

YOU can smoke in public in my country but you can't do so in enclosed spaces such as elevators, bathrooms. (rule:If you can see da light, gimme a lite.)

if you're referring to nickslick74's post i wouldn't really call it funny

you could say it was ironic, taking out a sign about the bend, but personally i wouldn't be laughing, more of a "huh, that's ironic"

I`m sorry to hear you lost your grandfather due to lung cancer.

However, this is a public forum and you were the one who started the thread. Therefore, you shouldn`t be too surprised at some of the comments people make.

If you`re(quite understandably) sensitive, then perhaps it would have been prudent not to start the thread in the first place.

Regards Howard

Yes, i agree with you rik. lol

And for the record, i don't smoke. I just think it's a disgusting habit and all us who don't smoke have to suffer breathing it in all the time.

Regards Jase

WOW. Never saw that Jase123 was anywhere close to being banned. 0.0 Oh well, we'll miss ya.

I think I made this thread to find out how many of the nerds (don't try to deny it)including me, smoke at any time.
Just wanted some statstics I guess.

But i'm surprised the facts that tedster gives out. I will keep that for future reference.

From that article: "Never has an argument been won based on statistic alone." Not only is this gramatically incorrect, but there are a lot of strong statements like this in the article without references. Tedster, you're going to have to do better than that to convince us that SHS is good for children...

EDIT:
This reminds me of a related topic in the news recently. The University of California Board of Regents is struggling with the issue of allowing tobacco companies to fund research on the effects of tobacco use. The most recent conclusion has been to allow it with stricter than average monitoring of the research. It is a very interesting topic. Check it out: http://ucsdguardian.org/index.php?op...id=60&Itemid=2

I have quit smoking ...
I smoked since I was 15 and I'm now 26.

It was the hardest thing I have ever done. Mentally you must be strong, as your sub-concious urges you to smoke! But I made it through (2 weeks now) and I'm never going back!

So ... can someone change my poll answer to NO instead of YES?

I've heard that nicotine patches help to reduce the withdrawl symptoms, and also help in kicking the habit permanently.

i'm actually amazed that i don't smoke. so many of my friends do. even my father used to. (he quit cold turkey before i was born.) even my BROTHER will take a puff now and then if he is offered one.

i frankly can't stand the stuff. perhaps its conditioning. or perhaps its the noxious chemicals and the smell. i just hate it. whenever i end up walking or biking behind someone having a drag, i have to hold my breath or i choke.

despite that, i could care less if people smoke. you can do as you please so long as you're not choking me with the smoke, or forcing me to smoke too.

nevertheless, i'm proud to say that no i don't.

Nope I don't. Was in some really bad company when I was around 10 when I took it up, but was sort of "forced" to quit after a year because I kept running out of pocket money hehe. Was glad that happened though. =)

One time we had to have a managers meeting at our store so there were like 15-20 managers floating around and when most of them got here they 'stood outside' for a couple of minutes before coming in, at one point there were like 10 people out there, including my manager haha

It's kind of like it's compulsory that if you're a store manager (in our company at least ) you have to take it up - my manager tried to quit once but we had a really busy week so the stress brought him back. Another guy I work with has tried to quit like 5 times now but never lasts more than a week or so

I'm quite allergic to it - except it doesn't really seem to bother me much when I'm drunk. I'm so sensitive to it that it actually bothers me when the person in the car in front of me is smoking. I'll usually change lanes and pass them.

you think that is bad...try having to sit in a car with the other 3 people in it smoking, and not having the decency to have the windows cracked. it was like i was being baked in it. not pleasant. needless to say i don't take car rides with them anymore.
