i just got off the phone with apple tech support after grilling him to hell and back. ok next update ALL unlocked "to work with diff providers will be disabled!"
he also mentioned that there migth be a chance that if the phone is bricked it will also be disabled. holly crap! they are no longer playing games so fire up that itunes restore!

Back on topic, I am surprised Apple would do this, I'm guessing that ATT has been doing a little corporate arm twisting.
