That is extremly complicated doing your own Forum.
You have got to know what your doing and you would need a fixed ip.

Apache lets you create web host.

Apache is indeed free. Just install Apache, install MySQL, install PHP5, and download PHPBB and follow the instructions on their site.

As long as you are mildly competent you can have a site running off your computer in a few hours. It won't have a domain though, just an ip address.

A website from spruz comes with forums, and you can make yourself and other people moderators http://www.spruz.com/main.asp.

You could also put your photos, ect on a free file hosting site, imageshack is pretty easy to use and link back to them on your main site. To save space of course Freewebs is realy easy to use as recommended by jase! I think i used to use nuke php (free) for my forum, and link back to it on my main site. (space saving). Though i may also be going senile.....:P

Imageshack here.

Nuke php. Im afraid you will have to google this as they started charging after version 7.5

If you put it one the web, others are going to access it no matter what. What would be the point of putting it on a site in the first place if you won't allow anyone to see it?

Getting a free domain and hosted forum is probably not viable but getting a free forum on a subdomain and hosting it on a limited basis should be easy (you may have to show advertising):

http://www.google.com/search?q=free+forum

Now, if you have your hosting set up separately, there are plenty of free forum software available, the best is perhaps the open source phpbb project.

It seems complicated i know.. But in reality , follow any of the links above and i guarantee you will have your site running in a day. As for copyright issues. Put a small legal disclaimer in your site. ( steal somebody elses ) and at least then you will have some sort of backup plan if one of your pieces of work is stolen and gos on to sell millions of prints
